Purpose
The purpose of the Commission for Substance Abuse Prevention is to leverage resources to support the campuses in identifying, implementing, and delivering evidence-based strategies for alcohol and other drug prevention.
Primary Functions
The primary functions are to:
· Provide leadership and support for the implementation of evidence-based strategies across the 20 campuses (online education modules, BASICS, and others),
· Provide professional development opportunities and increase understanding among faculty and staff of evidence-based strategies and existing models within the University system and at other institutions,
· Encourage and support efforts through grants, other sources, and an annual best-practices award program, and
· Strengthen assessment efforts to identify and monitor prevention strategies and evaluate initiatives including facilitating the US Department of Education biennial review process.
